Three young British men – Ralph Weir, Ed Hill and Calum Matthews – have so far raised $67,070, including a match-funded donation of $30,000 from Sumitomo Chemical, for Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) by cycling Africa North to South, a total of 11,000km.

These funds will enable AMF to purchase 34,315 insecticide treated nets to be donated to 60,000 people in over 112 villages, providing universal coverage for the population of 12 districts in Malawi.

Sumitomo is delighted to have supported the cyclists who started in Cairo and finished in Cape Town, raising awareness of malaria in ten countries.  During their six-month cycle ride they visited the Africa Technical Research Centre in Tanzania, a joint venture between Sumitomo Chemical and AtoZ Textile Mills Ltd, to learn more about malaria prevention.
