Rift Valley Fever
Rift Valley Fever is a fever-causing viral disease that affects both livestock and humans in Africa and the Middle East. It is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito, but can also be disseminated through contact with the blood or body fluids of an infected animal.
People infected with Rift Valley Fever have a flu-like illness with fever, weakness, back pain, dizziness and weight loss. Infected people usually get better in 2-7 days, but sometimes the infection can cause haemorrhage and encephalitis or severe eye complications.
