Sumitomo Chemical’s Olyset® net uses the latest research and technology to achieve a breakthrough in the global fight against malaria.

Permethrin is incorporated inside the Olyset fibres to create a bed net guaranteed to last at least five years.  It is tear-proof, wash-proof, and never requires treatment.

The pyrethroid insecticide permethrin is a synthetic molecule similar to natural pyrethrin, which comes from a species of chrysanthemum.   Because it poses minimal toxic risk to humans, Olyset is particularly valuable where babies and small children are concerned.

Health organizations consider Long-Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLINs) to be the most effective method of preventing malaria in endemic areas throughout the world.

Sumitomo Chemical developed Olyset® by incorporating insecticide into the actual fibres of the net. This  ground-breaking technology is so reliable and long-lasting that we GUARANTEE Olyset nets for five years.   In practice in Africa, we have found Olyset nets lasting for more than seven years.

The Olyset net is stronger than polyester nets, with innovative fibre technology that is almost impossible to tear.  Because the insecticide is contained within the mesh fibres, Olyset nets never need treatment. Olyset was the first LLIN to earn recommendation from WHO via the rigorous testing procedure known as WHOPES.
