Diseases Caused by Other Insects
Many other organisms are vectors for dangerous diseases. Below are two other diseases transmitted by blood-sucking insects.
Chagas Disease
Chagas disease is caused by Trypanosoma cruzi which is tramsitted by blood-sucking bugs of the Triatominae subfamily. These bugs are only found in South America.
Leishmaniasis
Leishmaniasis is a disease caused by protozoan parasites transmitted by sandflies. The disease can take one of three forms, depending on the specific species of parasite and country location.
